Metals

All metals are magnetic. They either repel or attract magnets, diamagnetic or paramagnetic. All metals attract or repel magnets. Some do it with such low force you wouldn’t notice unless with a sensitive measuring system. For our purposes, we can simplify it.

Ferromagnetic Metals

Metals that contain iron are known as ferrous metals and afaik they are all strongly magnetic (with the exception of some stainless steel alloys) and can be magnetised.

Non-Ferrous Metals

Non-ferrous metals are metals that do not have any iron in them at all. Under normal conditions, are not attracted to magnets or magnetic materials. Examples of these metals are copper, gold, and lithium. They can be paramagnetic which means they are very weakly attracted to a magnet, but they cannot actually be magnetized.
